Rose City Coffee’s most recent endeavor has been to create a Board of Directors. I know, right…what an incredibly daunting task!!
Recently, Dan (our Executive Director) and I met a gentleman named Daniel who has done loads of work in the non-profit world and just so happened to be starting up his very own non-profit consulting company. Daniel offered to meet with us pro-bono as he gets his feet on the ground with his own project. This meeting was a complete 180-degree turn from what Dan and I (Stephanie) understood as the one and only approach to creating a board. That approach, of course, is to find our friends and beg them to be part of this board.
Coming from a place of experience, Daniel walked us through all things Board of Directors. It all came down this: “keeping your mission and vision in mind at all times, what do you want this Board of Directors to look like?” The word intention strikes a chord with this enlightened view of establishing a Board. Since that pivotal meeting, Dan and I have met and really thought through what we want to see in a Board of Directors. From backgrounds, experiences, specialties, and expertise, it’s all been written down, prayed over, and specifically delineated.
We’re soon to launch job descriptions for our ideal Board of Directors. Through a mutual vetting process, our Board will find us as we find it’s individual contributors. Words cannot properly express the excitement, the heart overflowing with joy and hope for what this Board can get accomplished for the youth we serve.
Love and gratitude to you all as we share this incredible update and prepare Rose City Coffee for the next level.
Thanks for everything, y’all!
