Position: Volunteer Board Member (Human Resources expertise)

Experience: 2 years

Job Function: Human Resources

Employment Type: 2 Year Board Membership

Job Description: 

The position of Board Member comes with a two-year contract and an annual Give/Get commitment of $2,000 per each year. The Rose City Coffee Board practices are very transparent when it comes to the financial contributions of its members.

Board Members will meet at least once per quarter in the months of February, May, August, and November.

Desired Skills and Experience: 

– Experience with organizing staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counseling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; recommending changes.

– Comfortable with planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.

– Will ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings.

– Knows how to maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures

– Will remain up to date on professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

– Assist with support/input/analysis regarding budgeting for marketing/pr needs

Position: Volunteer Board Member (Fund Development Expertise)

Experience: 2 years

Job Function: Fundraiser

Employment Type: 2 Year Board Membership

Job Description: 

The position of Board Member comes with a two-year contract and an annual Give/Get commitment of $2,000 per each year. The Rose City Coffee Board practices are very transparent when it comes to the financial contributions of its members.

Board Members will meet once per quarter in the months of February, May, August, and November.

Desired Skills and Experience: 

– Assist in overall planning and implementation of foundation efforts, including fundraising campaigns, with other staff.

– Assist in development of policy for accepting donations

– Assist in preparation of grant applications

– Accepts gifts from donors and assures that receipts and thank you letters are sent promptly and according to policy

– Demonstrates integrity and trust with advanced written, oral and interpersonal skill

– Will remain up to date on professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

– Experience working with youth in behavior/social/life development with a variety of ages and backgrounds

– Encourages, supports, and guides Board to accomplish established goals and objectives, stimulate creativity and implementation of new ideas and activities, and be a positive role model

– Balanced in approach to at-risk youth subject matter/development

– Present in the greater community discussions (i.e., partnerships to end homelessness)

– Will remain up to date on professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

Position: Volunteer Board Member (Finance Expertise)

Experience: 2 years

Job Function: Financial Administration/Management

Employment Type: 2 Year Board Membership

Job Description:

– Exercises judgment and initiative in interpreting policy and guidelines on financial matters.

– Has in-depth understanding of institutional financial policies and procedures and makes appropriate decisions based on this knowledge.

– Has working knowledge of how to fund related problems and follow up with departments on new projects/funds to be created.

– Can help handle new funds, process donation journal entries, investigate discrepancies and prepare detailed records and reports as required.

– Must have analytical experience, be accurate with figures, well organized and exercise sound judgment in decision making.

– Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources.

– Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants.

– Work with finance to gather information necessary to report to corporate/foundation funders on current grant programs.

– Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors.

– Assist with other fundraising projects as requested
